On construction sites, we often see a special vehicle, which is a concrete mixer truck, also called a ready-mixed concrete truck. Because of its unique appearance, people also affectionately call it a “snail truck”.
A concrete mixer truck is a special truck used to transport ready-mixed concrete required for construction sites. On its body, a cylindrical mixing drum is installed, which is the “container” for loading mixed concrete. From the moment the concrete is loaded on the truck until it reaches its destination, the mixing drum will rotate non-stop. This is because only by continuous rotation can the concrete in the drum be kept in a flowing state and will not solidify, thereby ensuring that the concrete delivered to the construction site can maintain good construction performance.
After completing the concrete delivery task, there is another essential process – flushing the inside of the mixing drum with water. This is not a superfluous move, because once the concrete hardens, it will firmly adhere to the inner wall of the mixing drum, which is not only difficult to clean, but also takes up valuable space, affecting the amount of concrete to be transported next time, and thus adversely affecting the progress of the project. Therefore, flushing the mixing drum after each transportation is a key step to ensure the efficient operation of the concrete mixer truck.
What are the precautions for using Sinotruk HOWO 10CBM Mixer Tanker Truck?
- The pressure of the hydraulic system should comply with the provisions of the instruction manual and should not be adjusted at will. The quality and quantity of the hydraulic oil should meet the original requirements.
- Before loading the concrete mixer truck, the remaining water and debris in the mixing drum should be drained first. During transportation, it should be rotated continuously to prevent concrete segregation. Before the concrete mixer truck arrives at the construction site and unloads, the mixing drum should be rotated at full speed at 14-18 rpm for 1-2 minutes, and then reversed to unload. Before reversing, the mixing drum should be stopped.
- When the ambient temperature is higher than +25 degrees Celsius, the duration from loading, transportation, to unloading shall not exceed 60 minutes. When the ambient temperature is lower than +25 degrees Celsius, the above time shall not exceed 90 minutes.
- During winter construction, it should be done in earnest: check whether there is ice before starting the machine; carefully remove the remaining water in the mixing drum and the water supply system when leaving get off work, turn off the water pump switch, and put the control handle in the “stop” position.
- After unloading at the construction site, the feed hopper, discharge hopper, unloading chute, etc. should be immediately flushed with the hose provided with the mixer truck to remove the sludge and concrete adhering to various parts of the vehicle body. On the way back to the mixing station, 150-200L of water should be poured into the mixing drum to clean the concrete residues adhering to the drum wall and blades.
- After work every day, the driver should be responsible for injecting clean water into the mixing drum and rotating it at high speed (14-18 rpm) for 5-10 minutes, and then draining the water to ensure that the drum is clean. When using high-pressure water to clean various parts of the mixing drum, be careful to avoid instruments and joysticks. The distance between the pressure water nozzle and the paint surface of the car body shall not be less than 40 cm.
- When removing the accumulated dirt and remaining concrete slag inside and outside the mixing drum, and when the mechanics enter the drum for inspection and welding, the car engine must be turned off first to stop the mixing drum completely. During the period when the mechanics enter the drum to work, it must be ensured that the mixing drum is well ventilated, the air is fresh, there is no natural gas and harmful dust, and the oxygen supply is sufficient (pure oxygen must not be used). When using electric tools in the drum, the operator must have good insulation protection.
- When working, do not put your hands into the rotating mixing drum, and it is strictly forbidden to put your hands into the connection between the main discharge chute and the extended discharge chute to avoid accidents.
- Check the wear of the mixing blades regularly and repair and replace them in time.
- Implement all relevant safety operation specifications. Concrete mixer truck drivers must undergo professional training, and those without a certificate of qualification are not allowed to operate.

Mixing drum: The mixing drum used in this model is a commonly used structural form. The mixing drum adopts a pear-shaped structure. The cleaning water and the mixing water added as needed during transportation are injected into the drum from the feeding port of the mixing drum head.
