Flatbed Semi Trailer For Sale

The flatbed semi-trailer is also known as the container semi-trailer. It is versatile and is mainly used for transporting containers of all sizes. This includes standard 20ft, 40ft, and 45ft containers. It has a flat, open loading platform, no side baffles, and is easy to load and unload.

1. Function - Flatbed Semi Trailer For Sale

The flatbed trailer is designed to transport containers of all sizes, commonly used in ports and highways. Alternatively, it can be used to transport bulk goods, machinery equipment, and any other goods within the height limit.

It is worth noting that flatbed trailers do not have rails to prevent the cargo from falling off. Therefore, ropes, chains, or other tools should be used to secure the cargo when transporting bulk goods or machinery equipment. If the cargo is not secured correctly, it may fall off during transport and thus cause damage.

Body part

  • Frame: The frame is the main supporting part of the flatbed semi-trailer and is composed of multiple long metal bars. Usually, Q345 low alloy structural steel is used. It has the characteristics of high strength, lightweight, and good rigidity.
  • Loading platform: The loading platform is the core part of the flatbed semi-trailer and is made of welded steel plates. Usually 3mm, it has the characteristics of anti-bending and anti-wear.
  • Landing gear: The landing gears are the supporting part of the flatbed trailer. When not connected to the tractor, the landing gears support the whole body and keep it balanced and stable.
  • Fixing device: The fixing device is used to fix the container or cargo. The container lock is used to secure the container, and the rope tightener and rope are used to secure the cargo.

  • Tires: Tyres are the key component of a flatbed semi-trailer, usually with 8 or 12 tires.
  • Suspension: There are two types of suspension: air and mechanical. This is used to reduce body vibration and to ensure a stable ride.
  • Braking system: The braking system controls the driving speed and stopping of the flatbed semi-trailer. This includes both air and liquid brakes.

4. Shipping of Fudeng Flatbed Trailer

We use sea freight to transport your purchased flatbed semi-trailer to your nearest port in both container and roll-on/roll-off modes of transport.

Container transport:

we will place two flatbed semi-trailers in one container to reduce transport costs. When the length of a flatbed semi-trailer exceeds the length of a standard container (40 feet), a “break-tail” method is used. This means that the rear end of the semi-trailer is cut off to reduce the length. On arrival at the destination, the front and rear of the flatbed semi-trailer are joined together again.

Bulk transport:

The flatbed semi-trailer is fixed in the hold of the ship to prevent corrosion by seawater.

Roll-on/roll transport:

We fix the flatbed trailer on a roll-on roll-off vessel to transport to the port. To prevent seawater corrosion during sea transport, we spray wax on the surface of the flatbed semi-trailer. Using a ro-ro ship to transport the flatbed semi-trailer can save more transportation costs.
